While I would never encourage anyone to abandon tequila, I would suggest perhaps considering a new addition to wet your palate: Mexican wines. This summer, I was introduced to a few blends produced in the Baja California Peninsula, particularly Valle de Guadalupe. The region is just a two-hour drive from San Diego, and minutes from the popular fishing town of Ensenada. There are about 50 wineries in the valley, with a marked wine route (ruta del vino) on Highway 33.
